A Simple and Comfortable Solution for Waiting Areas

Waiting at stations can often be a tedious experience, but Viktor Kovtun's Seating for Stations aims to change that. Inspired by the need for comfortable seating during long waits, Kovtun designed a seating solution that takes its form from nature, using less materials and incorporating vibrant colors.

What sets the Seating for Stations apart is its simplicity and efficiency. Consisting of only two identical parts, the back and seat, as well as the front and rear legs, this design minimizes the number of components required. This not only reduces material usage but also makes assembly and transportation easier and more cost-effective.

The Seating for Stations can be made using traditional materials such as wood, plywood, metal, MDF, or plastic. Its dimensions, measuring 920mm in length, 600mm in width, and 925mm in height, provide ample space for individuals to sit comfortably while waiting.

One of the key advantages of this design is its versatility. With only two parts, the seating can be assembled in various configurations, allowing for flexibility in different station layouts. Additionally, the use of flanges to connect the seat and back with the legs ensures a sturdy and durable construction.

The Seating for Stations project was initiated in Autumn 2013 in Kyiv and completed in February 2014 in Odessa. Despite its innovative design, Kovtun was able to create this project in just five evenings, highlighting the simplicity and efficiency of the design process.

Recognized for its outstanding expertise and innovation, the Seating for Stations project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2014. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the remarkable level of excellence and creativity demonstrated by Kovtun's design.
